Dr. Hari Prasad Kanoria, Chairman

Dr. Kanoria, LLB. D.Litt, is an industrialist, banker, journalist, educationist, philanthropist and social worker. He is also the chairman of the Kanoria Foundation which is a trust entity founded by the Kanoria family, headquartered in Kolkata, India. It has been in business for more than a century. It is dedicated to contributing to societal development by creating business enterprises which have long-term and sustainable objectives. It believes in the ethos “Work with Devotion with Righteousness” through the constant churning of ideas, implementing it with passion and focusing on the results.

His businesses include infrastructure financial services, infrastructure development (roads, ports, power, industrial parks and SEZ-s, water, rural IT infrastructure, mass housing, townships, hospitality and healthcare). Its operational philosophy is based on strong foundation of morals, values and culture.He is also the Chairman of World Confluence of Humanity, Power and Spirituality.

Mr. Sitaram Sharma
(Member of the Board of Trustees)

Mr. Sharma is a leading industrialist. He is the Honorary Consul of Republic of Belarus; Executive Chairman, West Bengal Federation of United Nations Associations (WEBFUNA); President, Bharat Chamber of Commerce; an active Rotarian. He is the Chairman of MaulanaAbulKalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies Ministry of Culture Government of India. Apart from these, he is the writer of the books viz. “United Nations’ 100 Questions & Answers” of which 3 editions have been published and “West Bengal: Changing Colours, Changing Challenges”.

Mrs. MadhulikaKanoria
(Member of the Board of Trustees)

Mrs.Kanoria is an educationist, socialist and philanthropist. She is the Vice Chairperson of IISD Edu World, where she is working on the purpose of providing skill development and vocational training to the disadvantaged women and youth of the society. She is also an active member (President ’18-present) of Ladies’ Study Group, Kolkata, which is taking constant initiatives for women empowerment.

Mr Parashar Lohia
(Member of the Board of Trustees)

Mr. Lohia is a senior Chartered Accountant having his own firm. He is an advisor to several companies and has played an important role in social services particularly in supporting the cause for violence against women.

Dr. Rahul Varma, Vice Chairman & CEO:

Dr. Varma has a rich and varied experience of working in the corporate and non-profit social service sectors. He has over decades’ experience in diversified fields. He is on the board of several companies and an active member of various Chambers of Commerce and their committees. He has been awarded the “Indian Humanitarian Ambassador” at the 3rd Global Officials of Dignity Awards for his invaluable service to humanity in New York. “Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition” and Bharat Nirman Make India Award for entrepreneurship were being awarded to him.

Acid Survivors & Women’s Welfare Foundation (ASWWF) has it’s Headquarters situated in Kolkata. The Eastern India Chapter also operates from Kolkata. In addition, we have chapters covering Western India, Northern India, Southern India, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha operating from Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow and Bhubaneswar respectively.

Acid survivors Trust International (ASTI) :

ASTI is a registered not for profit charity based in UK that establishes and supports organizations where they are needed in countries that have a high acid attack rate and brings attention to this brutal crime at the international level, so as to get governments to enact their responsibilities and provide better treatment for survivors. It has helped establish partner organizations in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Nepal, Uganda and Pakistan. India is the newest member of this partnership. Acid Survivors Trust International has been in the vanguard of campaign against acid violence and serves as center of excellence.

Internatinal Foundation for Crime Prevention and Victim Care (PCVC)

We have reached a provisional understanding with a reputed organization in Chennai, namely, The International Foundation for Crime Prevention and Victim Care (PCVC), a non-profit organization that was set up in response to the need for a support agency for survivors of domestic abuse. Their services include crisis management, legal advocacy, and support and resource services. PCVC is setting up a ‘Healing and Recovery Centre’ for the care and treatment of burn survivors including acid survivors. The MOU will be finalized shortly.

Human Rights Law Network (HRLN):

We have been working closely with the Human Rights Law Network (HRLN) which is a collective of lawyers and social activists dedicated to the use of legal system to advance human rights in India. HRLN provides pro bono legal services, engages in advocacy and conducts legal awareness programmes. They have been helping survivors of acid attack getting compensation from the respective state or Union Teritory governments and also fighting for justice in getting the perpetrator convicted. HRLN is having a large network of its offices all over India with their headquarters located at Delhi.
