The urgent need to combat acid crime in India led to the founding of Acid Survivors Foundation
India (ASFI) in 2010. ASFI is an initiative of SREI Foundation under the Chairmanship of Dr H P
Kanoria who has endowed it as a charitable trust.
The name ASFI was changed to ASWWF’s as its scope of work was expanded and it has now been
working to mitigate all forms of violence against women through carrying out advocacy and
prevention campaigns to raise public awareness to usher in changes in attitude towards women. By
working with communities and other stakeholders, ASWWF is supporting, developing and
implementing strategies that try to eradicate this crime.
Financial support provided to Ms Piyali Dutta (Acid Survivor) for delivery of Baby.
